Veterans Day Events in Hawaii

Spending Veterans Day in Hawaii? Please consider taking a little time out of your vacation to remember those who have fought and died for our freedoms.

There are numerous Veterans Day events in Hawaii occurring on each and every island. Stop by a tourist information center in your area or ask your hotel’s concierge to see what you could attend.

On Oahu, there are two big Veterans Day events happening today: one at the Punchbowl Cemetery in Honolulu at 10:00am and the other at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe at 12:45pm.

I’d also recommend visiting Pearl Harbor, where you can pay your respects to the many war memorials there. It’s a very sobering day and a strong reminder of the men and women who lost their lives courageously defending American freedoms.

There are lots of Veterans Day activities in Hawaii occurring on the other islands, too.

Check out Maui’s Veterans Day flag waving event and barbecue, held from 11am to 1pm at Keopualani Park, across from the War Memorial Complex. Beforehand, go pay your respects at the memorial service held at Makawao Veterans Cemetery at 9 a.m.

On the Big Island, you can enjoy free admission to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park for the entire Veterans Day weekend! That’s today, November 11th, to the 13th. On Kauai, come enjoy the KVMH Auxiliary Craft Fair, held from 8am to 1pm in Waimea at the West Kauai Medical Center. There will food, orchids, massages, and fun!

However you plan to spend your Veterans Day in Hawaii, be sure to take a moment or two to remember the courageous men and women who have helped shape our great country. Happy Veterans Day everyone!
