Haleakala

Haleakala Sunrise

Do you want to experience a little romance on your Hawaiian honeymoon or Hawaiian vacation?

Of course you do! Hawaii is one of the most romantic places on earth, and the Hawaiian sunrise seen from Haleakala is a moment you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Located on Maui, Haleakala National Park is home to the island’s most famous inactive volcano. Haleakala’s highest peak is over 10,000 feet above sea level, which makes it an absolutely spectacular place to watch the sun rise up over the islands.

Your actual sunrise viewing will take place just shy of 10,000 feet, at the Haleakala Visitor Center. Make sure you get there early – at least a half hour before sunrise – in order to get a good viewing spot.

Getting there early means getting up really, really early. Depending on where you are on the island, it can take about two hours to drive there. Sunrise happens between 5:38am and 6:55am, depending on the time of year. Look into the exact time before you go and give yourself ample time to get there so you don’t miss the big show!
